An official of Asante Kotoko caused a scene at the Kotoka International Airport on Tuesday afternoon when he rudely interrupted and whisked away coach C.K Akunnor in the middle of an interview and abused the media in return when questioned about his action.
The incident happened at the Terminal 3 of the airport when the team came out of the arrival hall and were engaged in an interview session with the media. The journalists had waited for hours at the airport just to give a hero’s welcome to the team after their impressive 3-2 victory over Coton Sport in the CAF Confederation Cup playoff and also engage them in an interview session.
However, an official by name Nana Kwame Dankwa pulled the coach out of the interview with the excuse that the team had to rush and visit the chairman of the club Dr. Kyei at Achimota.
When Isaac Wallace, a journalist with Rainbow radio approach Dankwa on his action, the Kotoko official rather rained insults on the media and in the process of the heated argument with the media a camera belonging to a Ghanaweb journalist was damaged.
The camera immediately went blur and the lens had slightly moved with the internal configurations showing.
The incident was later reported to the CEO of the club who arrived later at the scene.
The CEO apologized for the insensitive treatment meted out to the media by Nana Kwame Dankwa and has also promised to find a solution to the damages camera of Ghanaweb.
