Ghanaian giants Kotoko have rubbished claims that they are on the verge of losing six points for fielding an unqualified player insisting midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu was legally fielded.
Fears of the Porcupine Warriors sparked on Wednesday morning when reports emerged that the midfielder was played when he was supposed to be serving a suspension.
This caused fear and panic among supporters of the former African champions forcing the management of the Porcupines to come out with their denial that the player was rightly fielded.
But the club's management insists after accumulating three yellow cards in the matches against Eleven Wonders, Medeama and Dwarfs in the fifth week, the player was not included in the squad for their match against Hearts of Oak in the sixth week. This means he had served his one-match ban.
But the club did not also play the midfielder in the clash with Liberty Professionals in Kumasi in the seventh week which makes him even more qualified to play in their subsequent matches.
This puts Kotoko in the clear on the matter of losing points over fielding an unqualified player which has rocked their arch rivals Hearts of Oak.
Hearts are on the verge of losing six points after fielding Emmanuel Nettey in a game against Elmina Sharks after the player had accumulated yellow cards.
Hearts said Nettey had served his ban by playing in the FA Cup against Danbort but it has emerged that new laws say he must have serve the ban specific to the competition
Medeama have already been penalized with a six-point deduction for using an unqualified player in a League match against Great Olympics.
The evidence Kotoko present is below:
