Asante Kotoko utility player Eric Donkor could not hide his quest to don the national colours, disclosing he is expecting a national call up very soon.

Donkor, 23, whose versatility sees him playing any position on the field says it is the dream of every player to wear his national team jersey, and he is not an exception.

“Every player’s dream is to play at the highest level of football. My dream is not different. I am seriously eyeing a national team call up and any time the call comes, I will jump to it,”

“I am a Ghanaian and will be honoured to wear the national colours. As a local player, if I get the opportunity, I will be thankful.”

“I know the call will come very soon as the league is just about starting. I am determined to put up a better performance over what happened last year to be recognized by the technical handlers of the team,” Donkor noted in an interview with GHANAsoccernet.com

Current Black Stars coach Avram Grant has been heavily criticized for neglecting local players during call-ups for the Black Stars, but the Asante Kotoko star hopes to break that jinx as the second outfield player to earn a call-up after Samuel Tetteh of WAFA under Grant.

Donkor’s exploits were heavily lauded by followers of the game with his expertise in set pieces pushing the Porcupine Warriors to the second position on the league log as he emerged the best assist in the team.
