Asante Kotoko have been dealt a huge injury blow with Maxwell Baakoh set to be out for six months with a shin injury.

Baahoh's season looks all but over after aggravating his injury during the team final training session last Friday ahead of their Caf Confederation Cup against Nkana FC.

He was replaced by Martin Antwi in their 3-0 comfortable home win over the Zambian giants in the match-day four of the Confederation Cup at the Baba Yara Stadium.

According to coach Charles Kwablan Akunnor, the player for so long was playing with the injury for some time now but aggravated it during their final preparation to face the Zambian giants in Kumasi.

“Maxwell Baakoh is injured and he will be out for some time. He has been playing with the injury for some time now. But he aggravated it during our final session.

“He will be out for about 12 weeks to 6 months. Depending on whether he will undergo a surgery or not

"We will have to wait and see,” he said at the post-match press conference.

The 23-year-old has made eight appearances and scored two goals for Asante Kotoko in the Confederations Cup so far.
