The Chief Executive Officer of DataBank, Kojo Addae-Mensah, has suggested to Ghana Premier League side Asante Kotoko to consider appointing people specialized in sports management to run the affairs of the club.
According to him, the club is failing to achieve greater strides because of the archaic management style it practices.
Dr Kwame Kyei, the current Executive Director of the club, is currently facing a three-member committee appointed by the life Patron of the club, Otumfour Osei Tutu II.
The committee is set to scrutinize and review his three-year mandate and make recommendations.
Kwame Kyei’s tenure has been beleaguered by some poor decisions which has caused the club millions of Ghana cedis especially in the area of player transfers.
Kojo Addae-Mensah believes the continuous change of directors will not auger well for the club.
Speaking to Happy FM’s Ohene-Bampoe Brenya on Happy Sports, he said, “the running of the club should be given to people with sports background or profession.
If not the club will be going in circles. The structure must be changed from the CEO, chairman, bankroller etc.
“It’s time we move on from giving the job to philanthropists and hand over the work to professionals. Times have changed now. If Kotoko had continued with the partnership with Sunderland we could have gone somewhere”.
He also suggested that the club should consider contracting sports firms to manage the club as being done by English Premier League side Liverpool.
