Asante Kotoko coach David Duncan finally recorded his first win in the second round of the Ghana Premier League after leading his side to post a 3-2 victory over Accra Great Olympics.
The Porcupine Warriors lost their first two matches in the second round after defeats to Heart of Lions and New Edubaise United, leaving them with no option than to win Wednesday’s match. Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure’s brace came in handy as the league holders left the Accra Sports Stadium with the maximum points.
Accra Hearts of Oak’s poor run at the Wa Park continued as they fell to a 2-0 defeat to Wa All Stars. A goal in each half was all Wa All Stars needed to bag all three points and also move to the third position on the log after 18 matches.
Leaders Ashantigold saw their lead slashed from seven to five points after their 1-1 draw with Inter Allies in Tema. Bernard Morrison and Fuseini Eliasu scored for Ashantigold and Inter Allies respectively.
Aduana Stars are back to their second spot after defeating Medeama Sc 2-0, thanks to Abubakar Saddick and Godfred Saka.
Elsewhere, Liberty Professionals managed to pull a 0-0 draw with New Edubiase United at the Len Clay Stadium in Obuasi, while bottom placed B. A United failed to hold on to their lead as WAFA came from behind to snatch a 1-1 draw at the Coronation Park in Sunyani.
Sekondi Hasacas defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-0 while Heart of Lions and Bechem United settled for a 1-1 at the Kpando Park.
The competition enters week 19 this weekend with the biggest match being the Berekum Chelsea- Aduana Stars fixture.
