Kotoko supporters asked to rally behind Club

Accra, Nov. 25, GNA - Supporters of Kumasi Asante Kotoko Football Club have been urged to unite and throw their weight behind the Club to enable it achieve its former glory of being one of the best clubs on the African continent.

Mr Anthony Osei-Boateng, Executive Chairman of the National Circles Council (NCC) of the Club made the call in an address read for him at the first Supporters Forum in Accra on Saturday. He said unity plays a very important role in the socio-economic development of every nation, society or club and which should not be shelved by any group with a unity of purpose. Mr Osei-Boateng also advised supporters of the various clubs to refrain from indulging in hooliganism and other anti-social vices, which he said had eaten deep into Ghanaian football.

He said "we should not forget that there are only three results in every match, that of a draw, a win or a loss and that we should all learn to accept results in good faith".

Mr Osei-Boateng appealed to the Referees Appointment Committee to be transparent in the appointment of referees officiate matches so as to boost the confidence of supporters and ensure fairness to all teams. The Executive Chairman also appealed to the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association to ensure that they handle issues in a fair and transparent manner in order to bring sanity into the Premier League which kicks-off on December one.

Mr Kwame Baah-Nuako, Communications Director of Asante Kotoko said management had put in place adequate measures to ensure that Kotoko wins the 2007/2008 League and appealed to supporters to remain calm even when the going becomes tough.
