Asante Kotoko technical director, Malik Jabir, insists the club will improve ahead of the new campaign following their abysmal performance in the 2015-16 season

The Kumasi-based club moved from title challengers to a relegation-threatened side, languishing at the bottom of the log at a point, which saw former coach David Duncan being relieved of his duties.

Although, caretaker coach Michael Osei made some improvement in the club's fortunes, they were unable to finish within the top-four for the first time in five seasons.

"If you mean business, you've got to learn and correct where you went wrong in the previous season," Jabir told Ghanasoccernet.

"Where you went right last season you can improve on and we will do just that. It is our duty to make corrections to the problems that we failed to find antidotes to in the past because we want to start the new season on high note.

"Of what we saw in the beginning of last season, it was clear that we didn't have very effective pre-season so we've drawn a program which will last between six and eight weeks.

"Kotoko hope to make good use of the pre-season so that by the time the league starts [in December], our results will not be like last season. Kotoko will improve so much from what the supporters experienced in the previous campaign," he added.

The Porcupine Warriors have been very quite in the transfer window as they are yet to sign new players but they will have a perfect opportunity to access the fitness level of the old players with the Ghalca G6 tournament which kicks off next week.

Goal understands that caretaker coach Osei will be confirmed as the new manager with Godwin Ablordey taking up the role as assistant coach.
