Kotoko have withdrawn from this year’s President Cup, Ghanasoccernet.com can confirm.
The Porcupine Warriors are unhappy with the level of officiating against their club in the Ghana Premier League and have decided to withdraw from the competition scheduled to take place on July 1.
“Management have taken a decision not to play in the President Cup,” Kotoko communication member Nana Kwame Danquah told Happy FM in Accra.
“We believe some referees have an agenda against Kotoko. There is a deliberate ploy to frustrate our team. Our supporters are not happy about the level of officiating against us. It’s a management decision and we’ll stick to it,” he added.
The Presidents Cup is a prestigious competition played to honour the country’s sitting president every year.
