Kpakpo Allotey vows to end it early

Accra, July 31, GNA - Kpakpo 'the Bukom Flash' Allotey, Ghana's African Boxing Union (ABU) lightweight champion has vowed to end it early when he faces, South African, Gabriel 'the Dynamite' Phakula for the World Boxing Association (WBA) Pan African title on August 4. The fight, which is the main card on a nine bill package under the auspices of Francis Declan and Obric Sallah Promotions will be in honour of boxing Hall of Famers, Barimah Professor Azumah Nelson, former WBC champion in two weight divisions and South African boxing administrator and WBA kingpin, Stan Christodoulou.

Allotey said he had prepared so well that his opponent would not go the distance with him, as he would like to use the fight to announce his readiness for bigger titles in the pugilistic trade. Another high-brow- thriller of the night scheduled for the Globe Cinema at Adabraka in Accra is a the ABU/WBA International Continental Super lightweight eliminator between Lartei Lartey of Ghana and Kaizer Mabuza of South Africa.


Other bouts making the under cards include a 10 round light heavyweight challenge contest between Braimah 'the Bukom Banku' Kamoko and Mohammed Bameyi.


When the two pugilists met a couple of months ago, it was a real thriller in which Bameyi gave Briamah a very tough time and made nonsense of the form guide.


Herbert Quartey will slug it out with Alfred Quaye in a super bantamweight contest over eight rounds, while Kofi Manu tangos Annan Sowah in an eight round super welterweight contest. Ayi Bruce will test his durability against hard-hitting Charles Tetteh when the two meet in a super lightweight contest over eight rounds and Ishmael Tetteh must contend with Isaac Sackey in a super welterweight fray over eight rounds.

Prosper Ankrah fight Daniel Quartey over eight rounds in a super bantamweight duel and Amerlry Turkson and Gifty Ankrah square up in the only female fight of the night. The ladies fight will travel over four rounds.


Meanwhile, the promoters have announced that there would be an elaborate press conference on Thursday, August 2 at the Back Pass Restaurant, near the General Post Office to outdoor the final plans for the fight night.


The Promoters also request all boxers lined up on the bill to ensure they participate in the pre fight weigh-in at the Globe Cinema on Friday, August 3.
