Ghanaian football legend Charles Taylor has stirred up conversation on social media with his take that West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus is a better footballer than Vinicius Junior of Real Madrid and Brazil.
Charles Taylor is firm in his conviction that Mohammed Kudus, who enjoyed a stellar debut season with West Ham United, trumps the Brazilian winger when it comes to genuine footballing talent.
He argues that if roles were reversed and Kudus was at Real Madrid, he would become the poster boy for Los Blancos.
Charles Taylor thinks people will question his controversial stance because, in his view, Ghanaians tend to look down on their own.
“Kudus is a better footballer than Vinicius Jr. If Kudus were to be at Real Madrid, he’d have been the main man in the team,” Taylor said on Angel TV.
“The quality that Kudus displays, Vinicius doesn’t match up, but it’s because we don’t believe in our own players and the lack of quality pitches here.”
Mohammed Kudus enjoyed an incredible maiden season with West Ham, hitting 14 goals and six assists in all competitions for the London-based club.
Kudus also ended the season as the best dribbler in Europe with a successful take-on rate of 136.
On the other hand, Vinicius was instrumental in Real Madrid’s double victory in the UEFA Champions League and Spanish La Liga last season.
Charles Taylor is a Ghana Premier League legend who won multiple titles with Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko.
He was an integral member of Hearts of Oak’s CAF Champions League victory in 2000.
