Kuffour back with Bayern after daughter's burial

MUNICH, Germany - Five days after the drowning of his 15-month-old daughter Godiva, Ghanaian defender Sammy Kuffour returned to Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

Kuffour, who had been granted an indefinite leave of absence by the club, attended his daughter's burial in Accra, Ghana, on Monday before flying back to Germany.

He will train with Bayern's regional league team until the Bayern regulars return from a training camp in Spain on Monday.

The 26-year-old Kuffour has been a key player in Bayern's defense for years and was on the 2001 Champions Cup winners and the team that claimed three straight Bundesliga titles starting in 1999.
