Roma have offered Bayern defender Sammy Kuffour a $4,500,000 net salary per year, and have improved their offer to $24,000,000 for the player. Ghanaian international Kuffour's agent Dello Russo has claimed the player has not put pen to paper yet on a new contract with Bayern. Recently, Bayern Munich had announced that a contract extension until 2005 was sealed but now that looks like not being the case.
With this new offer from Roma, Kuffour has said he will sit down with Bayern bosses again within the next few days, but refused to make any more comments, just stating: "If something was to happen, you will be informed." Italian champions AS Roma have been chasing Kuffour for weeks now, but Bayern have refused to even talk to the Italians so far, and have called the Ghanaian defender ‘irreplaceable’.
Even if Kuffour has not put pen to paper on a contract extension, he would be under contract with Bayern until 2003, but the club are trying to secure him for a longer time.
