Accra, Feb 13 - Emmanuel Osei-Kuffour, one of the longest serving player of Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting club Limited has tendered in his resignation from the club with immediate effect.

Information reaching the GNA Sports from the secretariat of the club said that the player tendered in his resignation on Wednesday, February 11, three days after the club lost their match 1 - 0 against King Faisal in the Coca Cola Top Four Tournament at the Kumasi Sports Stadium. According to the information gathered the player cited personal reasons as the basis for his resignation.

Osei-Kuffour in his resignation letter to the club said that "he has played his part for the club and believes it is time to pave the way for others to continue".

Mr Ashford Tettey-Oku, Administrative Manager of Hearts told the GNA Sports that the Interim Management Committee (IMC) of the club would meet on Monday, February 16 to take a decision on the player's action. Osei Kuffour who joined Hearts from Ebusua Dwarfs in the mid 90's was given a one-month suspension after the team lost by a lone goal in Kumasi against King Faisal.

The club cited gross indiscipline as the basis for his suspension and this, according to our information might have resulted in the player's action.
Osei-Kuffour is among the 27-man squad registered by the club for the CAF Champions League this year and his absence will definitely lead to depletion of the team.
The player is well remembered for his exploits in the CAF Champions League in the year 2000, where he won the top scorer award and contributed immensely to the success of the team.
Aside that, he played a major role in the annexation of the Champions League Trophy, Super Cup and other domestic titles won by Hearts in the same year when the club was a dominant force on the local front.
