Ghana Football Association President, Kurt Okraku has hailed the humility and maturity of Black Stars assistant coach, David Duncan for accepting his role despite his vast experience as a coach.

Following his appointment as head coach of the Black Stars, CK Akonnor chose David Duncan to become his assistant.

The two coaches have enjoyed spells in the local league as managers of two of the glorious clubs in the country although Duncan begun his in 2000 whiles Akonnor joined the profession nine years after.

For Kurt Okraku, Duncan’s decision to accept his role as an assistant to Akonnor shows how humble and matured he’s grown up to become. He also noted that working for the national team goes beyond age but rather the capacity to deliver. “It’s not about age, it’s about work, today I lead the association and there are much older colleagues of mine on the Executive Council but he (Akonnor) decided to go in for someone very experienced, someone who is very educated, someone who is very respected not only by his peers but his players and someone who we all believe has the capacity to assist,” the GFA President said on the Sports Check show on Ghanaweb.

Despite the differences between the two coaches, Kurt Okraku believes the two coaches get along very well and are up to the task.

”They have a good team, fortunately, they work together, it will surprise a lot of people. I think that David Duncan overtime has matured a lot and he appreciates the opportunity given to him by Charles Akonnor to be working with him and therefore knows what is expected of him.”

The coaches are yet to lead the Black Stars in a football match since taking over their post.
