22-year-old striker, Kwabena Owusu has received a call up to join the Black Meteors in camp for their 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers against Algeria.
The Black Meteors are set to host the North Africans in a final round double-header on September 6 and 10, with the winners on aggregate securing a ticket for the November 8 to 22 championship in Egypt.
The top three nations at the tournament will represent Africa at next year's Tokyo Olympic Games.
Coach of the side, Micheal Osei revealed that 11 players abroad are expected to boost the Ghana U-23 with their experience for the match.
Kwabena Owusu was included in the Black Stars squad at the 2019 AFCON in Egypt and made two appearances for the team. He added a significant touch to the team when his strike hit the post nearly scoring the only goal in Ghana’s zero stalemate with Cameroon in the group stages at the AFCON.
Spanish second Division outfit, Córdoba CF ha however approved for the player to make the trip for the two-legged games.
Other players expected to join the team include; Captain Yaw Yeboah of Spanish side Celta Vigo, Red Bull Salzburg duo Majeed Ashimeru and Gideon Mensah, Udinese centre-back Nicholas Opoku, Fortuna Dusseldorf attacker Bernard Tekpetey among the players expected to be invited for the double-header.
