Best Female Table Tennis Player Cynthia Kwabi wants to win more

Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Best Female Table Tennis Player, Cynthia Kwabi has thanked the executives and members of the Association for recognizing here efforts in the game of Ping Pong and rewarding her at the 38th Awards Gala held at the State House in Accra.

Speaking to the Deputy General Secretary at the SWAG secretariat, she expressed her delight to be chose as the best player in the discipline and promised to train harder to retain the award which she first won in 2009.

The 20 year old star player who has represented Ghana in many tournaments said the SWAG Awards is the dream of every sports personality in Ghana, so she feels very proud to receive the award which she dedicated to all the female players of the national Table Tenis team. She named Chinese players, Ding Ling and Lizx Lixiaoxiao as her idols and the players she wants to be like and prayed that Ghana plays more international friendly games so that they would look sharper before there are events that Ghana would participate.

Born to Ebenezer Kwabi and Regina Amporfor, she atteneded Great Geraldo Welfare School before entering the Kotobabi 5 SHS then went to Accra High School and landed at the University of Ghana where she read Sociology and Social Work. Cynthia Kwabi is now employed at the Ghana Immigration Service and wants to make an impact at the next 2013 SESSA Games coming on in October. She revealed to yours truly that she was a very good football player, but realized that she could make it better with Table Tennis, so when the chance came, she grabbed it and trained hard to be a super player in Ghana.

Her best memorable moment was when she beat a strong set of Ghanaian female players including Beatrice Gyasi, Linda Annor, Cylia Baah Danso and Bernice Borquaye to represent Ghana at the 2011 all African Games in Maputo, Mozambique.

Her saddest time was in 2009 when she did quite well, but was not selected to join the Ghana team for a tournament in Congo, incidentally it was the year she won the SWAG Award. She hinted her hobbies as playing Table Tennis, studying, browsing and sleeping.

Cynthia Kwabi praised Ghana’s Table Tennis coaches especially Coach Whyte for his hard work in grooming star players from nobodies to somebodies and hoped that one day he would be recognized and honoured.
