Kwadwo Asamoah had an MRI scan on Sunday which revealed he is yet to recover from his articulate cartilage of his knee he damaged back in December last year, according to a medical report.

Provisional estimates suggest that the Ghana international will be out for between four and six weeks, though this time frame could yet change depending on his recovery and further evaluations.

Both the coaching staff and the club's doctors are in no hurry to rush the midfielder back after the bad luck he has had to put up with over the course of last season.

Asamoah suffered a career threatening injury in December last year and has not played competitive game since then.

He is on the road to recovery but his return will not be rushed and may now take longer than expected. Originally, he was supposed to be ready to join in at some stage with pre season training before it was mentioned that he could return before the new Serie A season.

That now seems unrealistic as it now seems that the objective will be to have him back and ready in time for the start of the UEFA Champions League, quite a while later than originally planned.

Kwadwo Asamoah joined the Old Lady from fellow Italian side Udinese in 2013 and has since won three Serie A titles.
