Nkawkaw, Feb. 16, GNA - The Kwahu West Municipal Assembly on Tuesday presented two sets of jerseys, three footballs and an amount of GHC 1,000 to the Municipal Education Directorate to support sporting events in the area. The gesture was to enable the Directorate to successfully host the 18th Eastern Regional Under-12 Inter Districts Primary School boys' soccer, girls' netball, athletics and Under-15 Junior High School girls' soccer. The Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Alex Somuah Obeng, who made the presentation at Nkawkaw urged the Education Directorate to put the items and money to good use to enable the athletes prepare adequately to win more laurels for the Municipality.
The Municipal Director of Education, Mr Noah Dwamena who received the items, thanked the Assembly for the donation and gave the assurance that they would be put into effective use.
Over 1,000 Basic School athletes and footballers from the 21 Municipal and District Primary and JHS schools will participate in the five-day Sports Festival which will commence from February 22 - 26 at the Nkawkaw sports stadium. 16 Feb. 10
