In a heartwarming turn of events, former Black Stars coach Kwasi Appiah found redemption on foreign soil, dancing joyfully with his staff as Sudan secured their spot at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Once dismissed in Ghana, Appiah has proven his critics wrong by guiding Sudan to a dramatic qualification on Monday, 18 November 2024.

Following the game, a video posted online showed Kwasi Appiah together with members of his technical team, including his assistant Ignatius Osei-Fosu, who once served as the head coach for King Faisal dancing to King Paluta’s ‘Aseda’ song.

Some players also joined in to show off their dancing skills. While Appiah initially appeared laid-back during the dance, his staff managed to get him into the jubilant mood.

Kwasi Appiah’s Road to Redemption

Kwasi Appiah served the Black Stars both as a captain and coach, having two stints as head coach.

His second stint came to an abrupt end when Kurt Okraku assumed leadership of the Ghana Football Association.

Without a job, Sudan offered him a lifeline in 2023, tasking him with qualifying the team for the AFCON tournament.

However, Sudan’s group draw, which included Ghana, forced Appiah to step down from his role as an Executive Committee member of the Black Stars.

Despite these challenges, he led Sudan to qualify ahead of favorites Ghana.

Two wins (including one against Ghana), two draws, and two losses were just enough to secure Sudan’s ticket to Morocco.

For Kwasi Appiah, this achievement is undoubtedly a moment to cherish.
