Kwesi Appiah likens second coming to Jesus Christ

The Black Stars coach will begin work on May 1 but insists he will be very strict than previous time.

Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah has revealed that he will be strict with his players as he stages a comeback on May 1.

The former Black Stars captain was handed a two-year contract a fortnight ago to replace Avram Grant, but he faced issues of indiscipline and was widely criticised for failing to manage his dressing room during his first stint between 2012 and 2014.

”My second coming to coach Ghana [Black Stars] can be likened to the second coming of Jesus Christ,” Appiah told Light FM.

”I would not condone any indiscipline behaviour from any member of the playing body, irrespective of his importance to the team.

”There is going to be a perfect sanity in camp as I would make sure that players abide by the laid down rules and regulations.

”I’m not trying to inflict fears in player but just to make sure that the right things are always done as expected. There is nothing people need to worry about in my second coming as I see no reason why fears must grip some people before I even got this job,”

”Everything is going to be in order as I look forward to start work next month,” he added.

Appiah has been tasked to turn around Ghana’s ailing World Cup qualifiers after the Black Stars picked one point from two games under Grant. They are five points behind leaders Egypt.

Appiah’s first game will be the friendly against Mexico and United States on June 28 and July 1 in New York and Herosportsgh sources have revealed that at least two local players will make the squad as well as Al Hilal midfielder Augustine Okrah, who has been in fine form in Sudan.
