Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah is tipping Nigeria and Senegal to cause a major surprise at the ongoing World Cup in Russia but without writing off the three other African representatives, Tunisia, Morocco and Egypt.
Senegal are paired against Poland, Columbia and Japan in Group H, while Nigeria will face Argentina, Iceland and Columbia in Group D.
"Most of the African countries at the World Cup have got very young squads and I believe they can surprise many at the tournament," Appiah told Ghanasoccernet.
"Nigeria and Senegal are doing well with young players who want to achieve something and are surely going to make a huge impact at the World Cup.
"These countries only need the right mentality for the tournament and they can become the surprise package,” he added.
Appiah, who became the first indigenous coach to lead Ghana to the World Cup in 2014, couldn't make it twice in a row as his Black Stars failed to qualify for Russia 2018.
