US-based Ghanaian winger, Joseph Paintsil, recently visited the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu.
The Black Stars forward, who missed Ghana's game against Niger due to passport issues, took this opportunity to meet the leader of the Ghanaian Muslim community.
Paintsil and his team visited the Imam at his residence in Fadama, the area where the footballer developed his skills. The Los Angeles Galaxy star has committed to renovating the Fadama Astroturf as a way to give back to his community.
"It was an honor to visit His Eminence Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, the National Chief Imam, with my friends and team to start the renovation of the Fadama Astroturf, where my football journey began. This is a chance to honor my roots and empower the next generation of players from the community," Paintsil wrote on his social media pages.
The winger is expected to return to the United States in the coming weeks to rejoin his club for the crucial part of the Major League Soccer season.
He has had a strong start in the MLS, scoring eight goals and providing seven assists in 24 matches.
