Good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the 2018 AWCON Group A match between the Black Queens of Ghana and the Les Aigles Femelles of Mali.
The Black Queens are on the verge of sealing a semifinal spot after winning their opening game against Algeria. A win today will propel Queens to the next stage of the tournament and put them in good standing for a world cup slot.
Ghana coach, Bashir Hayford has called the bluff of the Malian team, saying that his team would walk away from the game with all three points.
“My ladies were tensed in the opening game but I believe those butterflies are all gone and will come up a better side against Mali. We did not play badly just that we could not convert the chances we created. We know how important the goals will be for us, so against Mali, we will go all out,” Coach Hayford said.
Two late goals against Cameroon meant that Mali lost their opening game having taken the lead in the first half. At a press conference yesterday, the Mali coach indicated that his side had not given up hope despite the loss but would come all-out against Ghana for a good result to revive their dream.
“It is not over yet. We made some mistakes that cost us. Ghana will have a lot to contend with as we intend to go all out. We are capable of winning and will do everything within our strength to ensure that we get the result that we need,”
Coach Houssein said Both teams have not fresh injury concerns heading into the game which kicks off at 3:30 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
