Hello, good afternoon and welcome to our coverage of the Ghana Premier League which enters matchday 13 this weekend.
Starting today, Karela United welcome Asante Kotoko to the Arkoon Park in what has been tagged the “Independence day’ clash in match day 13 of the Ghana Premier League.
The Porcupines returned to winning ways defeating Bechem United last Friday at the Accra Sports Stadium which they have adopted for home games.
The Reds have had a difficult ride this season but are still in contention to win this seasons League as they sit 4th on the league log.
Karela did not enjoy success on the last matchday as they slumped to a 1-0 defeat against Liberty Professionals in Dansoman. The defeat extended their terrible run. In their last five matches, they haven't won a game - losing three and drawing two.
They have scored just 9 goals so far, the worst goal tally among the bottom three and conceded 13 in return, the lowest among the bottom three teams.
Karela, on the other hand, are experiencing their worst campaign this season having recorded just 10 points out of 12 games played. The Nzema-Ayinanse based club are known for upsetting big guns in the league. They recently held Hearts of Oak to a goalless scoreline at home.
With the return of Burkinabe striker, Songe Yacouba into the squad after penning a new deal with the club, the fortunes of Asante Kotoko are expected to change in this game.
Karela have not won a game in their last 4 games – lost 2 and drew 2- but the Porcupines, they managed 2 wins, a draw and lost once in their last 4 games.
A win for any side will be a turnaround on the league table.
