Following President Nana Addo Dankwa Aufo-Addo's Sunday, May 31, address to the nation in which he announced a gradual easing of restrictions imposed to curb the spread of COVID-19 in the country, the Ministry of Information has been holding daily press briefings to give further details on the president’s directive.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports takes its turn to provide Ghanaians with a breakdown on the way forward as far as sporting activities in the country are concerned.

While the president announced the resumption and reopening of certain activities such as schools and churches in his address on Sunday, the president announced an extension of E.I. 64 of 15th March, until 31st July and added that activities such as sporting events, nightclubs and cinemas remained suspended.

"I have, by Executive Instrument, provided for these new directions, and extended the suspension of the remaining public gatherings, as set out in E.I. 64 of 15th March, until 31st July. In here, I refer to the suspension of sporting events, nightclubs, cinemas, drinking spots, bars, beaches, festivals, funerals, political rallies, and large religious gatherings such as crusades, pilgrimages and conventions," the president announced.
