The 2024 Olympic Games hosted in France officially kick off today, July 26, as the opening ceremony is underway in Paris.
For the first time in the Games' history, the opening ceremony did not take place in a stadium. Instead, the countries and athletes will be given a boat cruise down the Seine and will be taken on a tour through the landmarks in Paris.
Some landmarks athletes will cruise around include the Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral and the Louvre.
All the countries participating have assembled along with their flagbearers for the colourful and groundbreaking ceremony.
Some popular flagbearers include LeBron James and Coco Gauff, while Joseph Paul Amoah and Rose Amoanimaa Yeboah lead Team Ghana.
Some games like football, netball, rugby, and a few others started before the opening ceremony due to the physical demands.
These games started two days before the opening ceremony.
