Asante Kotoko host their Tunisian opponents Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Champions League group stages first leg encounter at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi today at 3:00 pm.
The Porcupine Warriors have a tough task this afternoon after overcoming the troubles of Nigerian side Kano Pillars 4-3 to reach this stage. The Reds will have to go through the Tunisian top-flight club if they are to make a big impact at this year's tournament.
Etoile who are the 2007 champions secured their progress following an 8-3 aggregate victory over Hafia Conakry.
Coach Zachariaseen’s men have been in good form competitively ahead of the fixture, winning three of their last five matches (W3 D1 L1).
The Porcupine Warriors were unable to have their final test for this match as their competitive cup game between Accra Hearts of Oak was postponed. The team however lost a similar cup game to Ashantigold on penalties.
Etoile on the other hand have not had a good campaign this year, managing only one victory, losing three and drawing once in their last five games.
Fawzi Benzarti’s men were recently knocked out of the Tunisian Cup by CS Sfaxien on penalties (5-4) and also lost 2-1 to Shabab Al Ordon in an Arabian Club Champions Cup tie.
However, the team’s only win this season came in their stunning win over Hafia in the CAF Champions League overturning a 2-1 lose to win 7-1 at home
The Fabulous fans of Kotoko are expected to throng the Baba Yara stadium in their numbers to frustrate their opponents which amusing chants to cheer their darling club on.
