LOC releases programme for CAF team

Accra, Aug 06, GNA - The Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the African Cup On Nations CAN 2008 has released its programme of activities for the visiting Inspection team of the Confederations of African Football (CAF) ahead of its tour to Ghana.

The Inspection team would be in Ghana to acquaint them selves with plans put on the ground by the LOC towards hosting of the Africa showpiece soccer event in 2008.

The inspection, which would take the four-man team to all the four hosting cities of Accra, Kumasi, Sekondi and Tamale is scheduled for August 25-30.

General Seyi Memene, the CAF First Vice President will lead the team which has Mr Suleiman Habuba, Director of CAF Public Relations and Communication Division, Mr Jean-Marie Weber, CAF Marketing Consultant and a representative of the Rights Holder of CAN 2008.

The team will start the tour with a working breakfast on August 26 with the LOC. This would be followed with courtesy calls on the Vice President, Alhaji Alui Mahama, the Ministers of Education and Sports and Finance and Economic Planning and a visit to the Ga Mantse's Palace. The team will also make a stop over at Kumasi and pay a courtesy call on the Asantehne, Otumfuo Osei Tutu and Mr Sampson K. Boafo, the Ashanti Regional Minister before enplaning to Tamale. At Tamale, the team would visit the site of the new Tamale Sports Stadium and pay a courtesy call on the Northern Regional Minister, Alhaji Saddique Abubakar Boniface.

On Sunday, August 28, the team would be in Sekondi where they will call on Nana Kobina Nketsiah V, Omanhene of Essikadu Traditional Area who is also the Chairman of the Sekondi-Takoradi Venue Organising Committee.

The team from there call on the Regional Minister before paying a visit to the site of the new stadium. The tour would be rounded off with a cocktail with the members of the LOC Sub-Committee, Ministers of State, Members of Parliament and selected footballers at the Alisa Hotel in Accra.
