Former Black Starlets coach, Laryea Kingston, has revealed that he would be open to returning to coach a Ghana national team, but only if adequate support is provided.

Kingston resigned from his role as head coach of the U-17 team in May after the Black Starlets failed to reach the finals of the WAFU B Cup of Nations, which also resulted in missing out on qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) U-17 tournament.

Despite stepping down following a disappointing semifinal loss to Burkina Faso, Kingston has expressed his willingness to work with the Ghana Football Association again, provided certain conditions are met.

“For me, any time Ghana calls upon me and provides the necessary support, I am ready to return and give back to my country because that is what we are all striving for,” Kingston said in an interview with Joy Sports.

Kingston stressed the importance of support in his potential return, while also emphasizing the role of former players in the growth of Ghanaian football.

He mentioned that figures like himself and former Black Stars coach C.K. Akonnor, who have both played and coached the game, are eager to contribute their experience and knowledge to the nation's football development. “C.K. has played and coached the game, so people like us are eager to contribute to the growth of our football now more than ever,” he added.
