Laryea Kingston urges ex-footballers to go into coaching

Former Ghana international, Laryea Kingston has praised CK Akunnor, John Paintsil, Maxwell Konadu and other retired players who took up coaching after calling time on their careers.

According to the former Hearts of Oak winger, ex-footballers have vast experience under their belt and must be encouraged to venture into coaching in order to impact their experience on the young footballers.

Laryea in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb TV singled out Michael Essien who has just obtained his coaching license from UEFA and praised him for taking a bold step.

“I do urge most of my colleagues to go into coaching. I felt very happy after Michael Essien told me he has obtained his UEFA B license. I was really delighted to hear that because some of my teammates are 'shy' to be on the touch-line but I believe such steps can help develop our football very well”.

After a brief spell in the lower ranks of Ghana football, Laryea believes he is equipped with the needed knowledge and experience and he is now prepared to handle a premier league side with his beloved Hearts of Oak being his preferred destination, though he will welcome offers from any club.

“I’m ever ready to take on any premier league club in the country. I believe in my philosophies and all I need is to get a good squad and let them adapt to my system. My dream is to win cups for every team that I coach because I always want to win”.

Laryea is a CAF licensed coach and he currently handles division two side KenStep which is owned by him and former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah.
