Accra, June 13, GNA - Former Black Stars midfielder, Laryea Kingston has jumped to the defence of the the Stars goalkeeper and brother, Richard Kingson in the face of growing call for the goalie to call time on his career.

Kingson has come under pressure to take a walk after conceding lame goals in the last two games Ghana engaged in but Laryea insists his brother remains the best to keep the Stars post and must be supported through this torrid period.

"He still has so much to offer and we must remember that one needs a lot of experience to keep the post for the Black Stars like he does. Goalkeepers get better with age and the examples of Edwin Van de Sar and Oliver Kahn among others will attest to that fact.

"The issue about age is a non starter. In football, it's all about feeling good and healthy and you are good to go. And obviously, my brother is in that spirit."

Laryea who speaking with the GNA Sports in an interview over the weekend claims the mistakes committed by Kingson are unlike of him and conceded the former Blackpool goalie might be troubled in some way.

"He is very experienced and mentally strong but he is human and worried about what people say. He might be having some problems at the moment."

The skilful midfielder said the Stars though will need a backup in the goalkeeping department of the team and quickly suggested his former Hearts of Oak' colleague, Sammy Adjei but claims the quality presently does not measure to Kingson's but can be closer to the task.

"Obviously we need a second choice goalkeeper but there is no one to replace him now. Readily, I think Sammy Adjei is the best to replace him because I know his quality and he is very experienced."

Laryea described Kingston's howler against Congo a fortnight ago as the major in his long spell with the Stars; insisting 93it is harsh to judge anyone based on one major mistake in over 80 appearances for the team."

Kingson was also at the receiving end after the Stars 1-2 loss to South Korea in a friendly in Seoul last Tuesday.
