Former Ghana international, Charles Taylor, has publicly expressed his disappointment over Laryea Kingston's decision to step down as the head coach of the Ghana Black Starlets.

Kingston, also a former Ghana international, announced his resignation following the team's 2-1 defeat to Burkina Faso in the WAFU B U-17 tournament hosted by Ghana.

Taylor stated that he has always respected Kingston for his passion and commitment to the game.

He compared Kingston's coaching style to that of former Ghana coaches Addy and Afranie, who were known for their ability to manage and nurture young talents.

"Since I got to know Laryea, I respect him to this day because whatever he does, he does it with passion. The under-17 team Laryea picked shows the old under-17 we saw — coached by Addy, coached by Afranie.

"He exhibited a type of coaching that managed boys like himself (Laryea) and a lot of players that delivered for Ghana," he told Peace FM, as monitored by Footballghana.com.

"Those coaches I compare with Laryea because if you look at the under-17, the football they were playing, it made me remember those days because the quality is more, so I always encouraged him.

"He called, and I spoke to him for almost two hours when we came to Rasta Park in the rain. I was in the car with him, talking to him. For me, I am disappointed that he has resigned from the under-17," he added.
