Laryea Kingston has jumped to the defence of big brother Richard Kingson and says he is unduly criticized when he plays for Ghana.

Laryea, who is currently playing for Israeli club Hapoel Be'er Sheva Joy FM the boos that have been directed towards the goalkeeper are not justified and must stopped.

Laryea said: "It’s very sad. It’s something that must stop as we put our hearts and efforts out for the country. At least my brother (Richard Kingston) has done a lot for the country and done his part."

Kingson who has been Ghana's first choice since taking over from Sammy Adjei in the days leading up to the 2006 World Cup lost his number one spot for the first time in a competitive game when he was dropped to the bench for Ghana's Nations Cup qualifier against Swaziland last Friday.

It followed two errors in his last two games for Ghana first against Congo in a Nations Cup qualifier and against South Korea in an international friendly a few days afterwards.

He was roundly booed in training in the build up to the game against Swaziland. Laryea says his brother is pained by what is going on.

"He feels sad because he feels people don't appreciate his efforts. He doesn’t take the criticism lightly but he's a strong personality and will always go better," he added.

"For us to be able to reach the top, Ghanaians must stop the culture of retiring players quick."
