Asante Kotoko legend Malik Jabir has strongly warned the management of the club not to attempt sacking Coach C.K. Akonnor insisting it will compound their problems.

Jabir who is highly respected for his achievement, both as a manger and a coach of the club insists that sacking the coach will not provide the club with solutions to succeed.

The Porcupine Watriors failed to make it to the quarter finals of the Confederation Cup after losing 2-1 to Zesco United in Ndola.

The club thus failed to win any of their three away matches in the group conceding six goals in the process.

Following their failure to progress in the competition, several reports have popped up that the gaffer is facing the sack.

But Malik Jabir thinks otherwise.

Speaking to Ashh FM this morning, legend of the club Malik Jabir urged the management to maintain the coach and reinforce the attacking departments of the team in order to have a strong team in future.

“Sacking the coach won’t be the solution to the problems in the team but we must prepare and build a formidable team for the future,” he said.

“The management and the technical team should tackle the defensive problems because it affected the team from the start of the competition instead of thinking about sacking the coach,” he added.

Akonnor’s recent achievement with the Asante Kotoko makes him the best manager of the club in 27 years in terms of statistics, and also the 4th manager to secure a group stage qualification in a CAF club competition in 15 years.
