Former Asante Kotoko defender, Edward Agyemang Duah, popularly known as 'Rambo,' has opened up about the heartbreaking moment that cost him the Africa's Best Defender award.

In a recent interview on the Ernest Brew Smith Show on YouTube, Duah revealed that a crucial missed penalty in the 1993 CAF Champions League final against Zamalek dashed his hopes of securing the prestigious individual accolade.

The first leg in Kumasi and the second leg in Egypt both ended in goalless draws, pushing the final to a tense penalty shootout. Duah was set to take the decisive penalty that could have clinched the title for Kotoko, but his shot was saved by the Zamalek goalkeeper.

"Kotoko played the Champions League in '93. We played Zamalek, and both legs ended in a goalless draw," Duah recalled.

"I was supposed to score the decisive penalty, but the goalkeeper saved it. That year, I was in line to be named Africa's Best Defender, but due to that miss, the award went to Frank Amankwah."

Duah played for Accra Hearts of Oak, Okwawu United, Ashantigold, and the Black Stars of Ghana.
