Speaking on the topic "The Socio-economic impact of the South Africa 2010 FIFA World Cup and potential challenges facing the media," Rex Danquah expressed regret that Ghanaians are yet to realize the economic benefits of the World Cup despite making her second successive appearance. Rex Danquah said the participation in the World Cup comes with a lot of benefits which can impact positively on all aspects of the economy when the opportunities are identified and utilised. On merchandising and branding, he said little has been seen in that regard despite several opportunities prevailing in that section. Rex Danquah urged the Brand Ghana secretariat to collaborate with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports to work towards reaping much benefits of the country's participation at the World Cup. He mentioned that the biggest legacy for Africa after the successful hosting of the World Cup will be to put the continent in a good stead to host the Olympic Games. The renowned Sports administrator also urged Sports Journalists who will be travelling to South Africa to liaise with the Ghana High Commission in the areas of accommodation and transportation to ease any difficulties they might face. 04 June 10
