Accra, June 5, GNA - Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals ended the 2010/2011 season on a high note with a 3-1 thrashing of Wa All Stars in the final match of the season on Sunday at the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman. A second half brace from Michael Helegbe and another from Alfred Nelson secured victory for the Dansoman lads.
The result ensured Liberty finished above the first half of the Premier League standings as well as confirm their place in the elite season for next season.
After a barren first half, Helegbe struck the opener on 62 minutes by connecting home from close range.
Four minutes on, the former Black Meteors captain completed his brace with a grounder that beat Robert Dabou in post for All Stars.
Two minutes past the hour mark, central defender Nelson increased the tally by connecting from Yusif Ayomga's cross from the right flank.
With the huge defeat staring at them, All Stars doubled their efforts but it could only yield results two minutes from time when Frank Sarfo Gyamfi earned them a consolation goal.
The visitors maintained their hold of proceedings but it was little enough to reduce the score line til the referee whistle to signal end of proceedings.
