The Libyan Football Association has agreed to give the Ghana Football Association (GFA) 50, 000 dollars annually over a four-year period for the development of football in the country. This was contained in a co-operation agreement signed between the two football associations. A statement signed by Kofi Nsiah, General Secretary of the GFA said the agreement was reached after a delegation from the GFA visited Libya to explore avenues of mutual co-operation.
Under the agreement, the national teams as well as local clubs of the two countries will play friendly matches as well as exchange referees to officiate in tournaments and championships. The two associations are also expected to organise joint training camps for their national teams and clubs and also participate in all international and continental tournaments organised by either parties.
The agreement also gives room for the exchange and loaning of coaches between the two parties in addition to exchange of football information, publications, documentaries and tapes. Mr Nsiah said the two associations would coordinate their stands and views in all meetings during voting and elections for posts at FIFA and Confederation of African Football (CAF) without impairing the autonomy of each national association.
