Hello and welcome to our live coverage of the second Group A game between the Black Maidens of Ghana and Finland.
The Maidens got off to a flying start in the tournament, thumping Uruguay 5-0 in a match that saw captain Mukarama bag Ghana’s first hat-trick in a FIFA u-17 World Cup.
Finland, on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 defeat at the hands of tournament favourites New Zealand.
A win today will guarantee the Maidens a place in the next stage of the competition and coach Evans Adotey says his girls are going all out for it.
“My only hope is to ensure that Ghana comes out with a win on Friday so that our road to the next stage will be easier”. We have been able to work on some of the mistakes we made in the match against Uruguay and come Friday we are hoping to put up a good performance and make it to the next stage, coach Adotey.
Unlike Ghana who have a reputation in the tournament, Finland are considered rookies with little experience in the tournament but Ghana can’t afford to underrate their opponents.
Finland are expected to approach the game with a plan to upset Ghana to enhance their chances of scaling the group stage hurdle.
Coach Evans Adotey could maintain the same line-up that demolished the host nation, with his captain and hat-trick hero, Mukarama Abdulai, who will be aiming to add to her current three goals and challenge for the Golden Shoe award.
Game starts at 7pm and we’ll be bringing you live text commentary
