Kotoko are the record winners of the FA Cup with five trophies
The debate over whether Umbro is superior to Strike or otherwise could be settled today when Hearts engage Kotoko in the 2019 President Cup.
Fans of the two clubs have for some time now been at each other’s throats over the quality of their kits and today presents a chance for one side to not only get the giant trophy at stake but also the bragging right of having the better kit design.
It could be President Cup number six for Kotoko whose last trophy in this competition came after a victory over Hearts who would want to catch up with their rivals at five.
It is the fourth time in four years that Kotoko and Hearts will be playing in the President’s Cup. The Porcupine Warriors won the last two meetings on penalties.
Kotoko’s last game ahead of this game was a defeat against Ashgold and a defeat today will only deepen doubts over their readiness for the game against Etoile du Sahel in the CAF Champions League.
Hearts have been busy with friendly matches and their last game was a resounding 4-1 victory over Patron Sporting Club.
Sogne Yacouba is in contention for a start after making a return to the side while Hearts have no injury problems in their camp.
The two sides have faced each other on four occasions in this fixture (2005, 2015, 2016 and 2017) and Kotoko has the better record with three wins.
Hearts of Oak’s victory over their bitter rivals came four years prior in a penalty shoot-out.
