Ghana’s two representatives in continental football are in action today against clubs from Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
Kotoko’s start to the CAF Champions League takes them to Kano where they play Kano Pillars. Ashgold begin their journey against Akonangui FC.
Both clubs have set a minimum target of reaching the knockout stages of their respective competitions and anything short of that could spell the end of the coaches in charge of both clubs.
Kotoko have done a massive recruitment, bringing in as many as twelve players as well as a new coach.
The likes of Moussa Adingra, Alexis Arnoud, Godfred Asiamah and George Abege have joined the club whiles Amos Frimpong and Safiu who were key in last season’s Confederations Cup journey have left the club to seek greener pastures elsewhere.
Ashgold have equally done some good recruitment including a Brazilian who has been given a start in today’s game.
Kotoko’s last engagement in the Champions League ended in an embarrassing first round exit to Algerian side, MC El Eulma.
Both clubs have named their starting teams for the games which kick off at exactly 3:00pm.
