Lizzy Sports Academy wins Skyboom FC open tourney

Lizzy Sports Academy has emerged champions of the maiden Skyboom FC Open Football tournament held at the Oyarifa Doga football Park.

The Academy boys beat Division One campaigners Phar Rangers 5-4 on penalties after 2-2 drawn game in regulation time.

Reaching the finals, Lizzy Sports Acadmey pipped GHC FC 1-0 in their opening game before thrashing Royal Success FC 4-1 in the second game. However, the Academy boys lost their final group game 0-1 to Krystal Palace.

They continued their championship quest by beating Royal Life FC 1-0 in the quater finals and recorded the same scoreline against Krystal Palace in the semi finals before beating Phar Rangers on penalties in the final match.

At the end of the competition, the Fair play team of the tournament went to Skyboom FC who took the third spot with a 1-0 defeat to Krystal Palace.

Captain of Phar Rangers FC Evans Adomako was adjudged the best player of the tourney whilst Michael Adebayor of Lizzy Sports Academy took the goal king accolade and the best goalkeeper was received by Daniel Opoku of Inter Millas FC with Rudolph Boateng of Kitase Action Boys FC picking the young promising player award. Ramona Paul of Kitase Action Boys FC took the best coach award.

Federation of International Football Association (FIFA) accredited agent and scout Mr. Said Hadjarab who supervised the tournament expressed satisfaction at the general organisation and the output of the talents that were on display and noted his readiness to work with the very best of players that were selected by a team of technical heads.

"My technical team have pencilled down a list of players that will travel to France for further trails and in the coming days we will announce the selected players that will make the trip."

The President of Skyboom FC Mr. Obed Okpoti Sorsey expressed delight at the massive turn-out and noted that the selected players are trainable ones who when given the opportunity and the stage they can make a name for themselves and the country as a whole.

Mr. Sorsey revealed that he will hold yet another tournament in six months time to offer the scouts more opportunties to have a look at other talents.
