Loaned Pappoe happy at Colchester

Chelsea defender Daniel Pappoe hopes his loan move to Colchester United will help him gain first team role when he returns.

The Ghana prospect has been loaned for six months to the League One campaigners.

The 19-year-old guardsman tweeted: “I am happy to be joining @ColU_Official on loan. Looking forward to helping the U’s achieve their aims. Thanks to all 4 making it possible.”

Colchester United manager Joe Dunne has lavished praises on the central defender.

"We're getting the paperwork through and Daniel will be with us until January,” he said in the Gazette report.

“He's a player I've seen when I've been on the circuit and he's a very assured centre-back who needs a breakthrough now. He gives us great strength, power and an opportunity to work the ball. He's young and he reminds me a bit of George Elokobi, when he first came to Colchester,” he added.
