Lorient head coach Sylvain Ripoll says Ghana striker Jordan Ayew proved will play an important role for his club after dazzling on his debut last Saturday.
The new signing scored in the 1-1 draw with Stade Reims in a pre-season friendly.
Jordan, 22, also showed he could form a deadly strike force with Vincent Aboubakar who was the French Ligue 1 second top scorer behind Zlatan Ibrahimovic with 16 goals.
“Jordan has shown certain gestures, he could bring us a lot. We know what he is capable of doing. Now it needs to be developed physically to give the fullness of its means,” Ripoll said.
“I am really happy to have him with us.”
Jordan has a signed a four year contract after leaving Olympique Marseille where he spent six-and-a-half seasons.
