The Prosimador Ghana Limited sponsors of the Loya Accra Swimming Open championships have hailed the success of the recent event at the University of Ghana in Legon. A host of young swimmers stormed the tournament displaying lots of skills in the water amid a high competitive atmosphere in the many categories competed for on April 27. Tesano Sports Club and the Lincoln Community School stood tallest sharing the podium for several medals in many divisions, top among them, 15 year old Kweku Addo of Tesano who wrote the headlines by setting two new national records. It’s the competitive spirit and it’s promise of a bright future for the sport that has left the sponsors very satisfied with the championships and inspire a further commitment to Swimming in this country for a long time to come.
“First, we say a big thank you to the Ghana Swimming Association for organizing this event. Our appreciation also goes to the contestants. It was a very keen competition we saw today and I must say we are satisfied with what we saw here,” acknowledged Inusah Mohammed, Events and Promotions representative of Prosimador Ghana Limited.
Mr. Inusah whose company support the sport of Swimming through their Loya Milk brand, continued: “We remain committed to Swimming and it will continue. We’ve been supporting it not just in Accra, last year we were in Kumasi and maybe next year we hope to take it to Akosombo. We are in Swimming to stay.”
Also impressed and appreciative was the President of the Ghana Swimming Association, Theophilus Wilson Edzie, who sang the praises of everyone involved in the success of the one day championship.
“I’m highly impressed and indeed it’s one of the biggest events in the history of swimming in this country. Everything has been well organized, the event started on time and special thanks to Loya for investing lots of money into sponsoring his competition,” Mr. Edzie told www.sportsinghana.com.
He added: “We are determined to represent swimming at the Olympic Games for Ghana and I think we are on course taking into account the wonderful performance we witnessed from our youngsters here today.”
