Elmina Sharks defeated regional rivals Ebusua Dwarfs in the penalty shootout in the MTN FA Cup round of 64 after playing out a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Cape Coast on Sunday.
Dwarfs started the game on a bright note as they pressed the away side and could have got the opener as early as the 1st minute but a great goalkeeping by Francis Arthur kept them at bay.
But, their incessant pressure paid dividends in the 3rd minutes when referee Cecil Fleischer awarded them a penalty, which was duly converted by defender Christopher Bonney to give his side the lead.
The Crabs were forced to defend deep into their half as Elmina Sharks battered them with ball possession in the second half but their defense stood resolute to the challenge.
Elmina Sharks levelled the score line late in the game by Richard Atika to force the game into the penalty shootout.
The Sharks went on to win the tie 3-0 in the penalty to advance to the next stage.
