Leading striker of Accra Hearts of Oak Gilbert Fiamenyo is expected to sit out when the Phobian’s play Bolga Man City in the Round of 32 of the prestigious MTN FA Cup at the El Wak Stadium later today, Wednesday, April 8.
The decision to rest the striker comes after he picked up a knock during Hearts of Oak’s CAF Confederations Cup game against Olympique de Ngor in Senegal over the weekend.
According to head coach Herbert Addo, the prognosis from the medical team of the club suggests that the injury isn’t fatal but a rest might be good for the striker.
“The injury is not that serious, he can play if we want him to. However, we have decided to give him some rest because there are other games ahead of us.
We have Wa All Stars to play on Sunday and we hope by that time Fiamenyo would be in a better position to play. He is an important player for us.”
Hearts of Oak have been impressive in the African campaign but have somehow endured a turbulent domestic league campaign.
Hearts of Oak are currently 14th on the 16 team league table, with 15 points from 12 league games.
Their chances of winning are faint but the MTN FA Cup title is very well within their reach.
A win against Bolga Man City today will send them through to the Round of 16 stage.
