MTN Ghana marks 2015 May Day with sports at Lizzy Sports Complex

MTN Ghana, the leading Telecomm Company celebrated this year’s May Day with sporting activities at the Lizzy Sports Complex in Accra under the theme “Sustaining workplace productivity and social partnerships through employee wellness”

Most of the senior executives including CEO Serame Taukuboug took part in the aerobics exercise and he expressed that the exercise was very good hoping that it would be organized regularly to keep the MTN staff in shape at all times.

He took the opportunity of the Day to greet all workers.

In a six-a-side football match MTN defeated Huawei 6 -2.

Mrs Amma Benneh Amponsah Human Resource Executive said “On this special occasion we celebrate and congratulate all MTN employees, and indeed all workers of Ghana, for their invaluable contributions to MTN’s success.

“At MTN Ghana, the rights and welfare of our staff are acknowledged and guaranteed without discrimination, and the company ensures the safety and wellbeing of all of its workers.

“MTN is therefore extremely proud of its prestigious investors in people accreditation by the UK – based Investors In People organization”.

“The accreditation is awarded to companies that practice the highest standards of people management in accordance with internationally recognized procedures, and MTN Ghana is the first company in Ghana to be awarded this accreditation” she revealed.

She noted that MTN Ghana considers the investors in people award a reflection of the effective cooperation and collaboration that exits among staff in all divisions of the company and an affirmation of the company’s core values of leadership, integrity, relationship, innovation and can –do.

According to Mrs. Amponsah MTN reaffirms its commitment to the values that have sustained it as the leading telecommunications company in Ghana, and rededicates itself to its mission to make our customers lives a whole lot brighter, and thereby contribute to the socio-economic growth and development of Ghana.

Dr. Mrs. Bernice Welbeck Ag Executive Secretary of the National Labour Commission advised the employees to promote wellness and healthy living.

She urged companies to provide tools and equipment for workers to produce their best by investing in incentives and not discriminate.

The MTN football team was awarded with the winner’s trophy whilst Huawei team took the second spot trophy.

Others who had contributed to the growth of MTN Ghana employee’s welfare were also honored with certificates.

Some staff of MTN Ghana tested their skills in swimming and football to enhance their fitness.
