Thousands of people hit the streets of Koforidua last Saturday for a 10 Km health walk. The exercise, arranged by MTN drew Keep Fit Clubs in and around the Koforidua municipality starting from the famous Jackson Park through the Central Market, General Hospital, Old Estate and ended at the starting point.
Keep Fit Clubs that took part in the Health Walk included National Keep Fit Club, Koforidua Keep Fit Club, Universal Keep Fit Club, Obass and the Cadet Keep Fit Club. The exercise which among other things sought to get closer to its loyal customers has become a permanent feature on the sporting calendar of MTN. Hours after the walk, 16 football teams battled for supremacy in the second edition of a football competition which saw Nsukwa FC emerging winners after defeating Mallam Park FC 8-7 on penalties. And for demonstrating much brilliance, they took home a trophy, ¢300 cash and assorted MTN souvenirs, while the losing finalists received ¢200. All clubs which qualified for the second phase of the soccer competition were rewarded with a ¢200 cash prize.
MTN’s Regional Sales official Mr Prince Owusu Nyarko pointed out that the event was to create healthy lifestyle among its customers. “We don’t only think about how to provide quality service for our numerous customers but to ensure that they live quality lifestyles, hence this exercise,” he said. He promised his outfit’s continued support for the event which is catching up with the people of Koforidua.
He commended all those who participated in the well attended and organized event. Sports in the Eastern region have of late sunk very low, so most elders of Koforidua praised MTN for organizing the Walk.
